There are many basic sources of electricity, and many of these forms can be delivered to living/business structures through grids:

- Generators (gas, diesel, natural gas)
Electricity can be a byproduct of these various energy sources.

Electricity is a secondary energy source, and it is also referred to as an energy carrier. That means that consumers use energy in the form of electricity, which is produced from the conversion of other sources of energy, such as coal, natural gas, nuclear, solar, wind energy, etc. These sources of energy are called primary energy sources. The energy sources used to make electricity can be renewable or nonrenewable, but electricity itself is not renewable or nonrenewable.
